WALTHAM, Massachusetts - The American International College men's basketball team fell 79-45 to Bentley University in a Northeast 10 Conference contest on Wednesday, January 14.
AIC is now 2-14 overall and 1-5 in the NE10.
Aguibou Balde opened the scoring with a layup off of a feed from
Coleman Hopson, but the Falcons scored nine of the next 10 points heading into the first media timeout. AIC's defense slowed the hosts for the next stretch of play, and threes by
Tony Felder and
Blair Thomas pulled AIC within a 16-12 margin near the midpoint of the frame.
From there, however, the Falcons took control. The home side extended the lead to 10 with three straight scoring possessions in the next 1:41, and that lead expanded to 20 with a pair of free throws with 3:23 to go in the half. AIC slightly cut into that gap, but trailed 43-26 at the break.
Over four minutes elapsed before either team scored in the second half, but the Falcons rolled from there, and continually added to their lead throughout the half, largely by stifling the AIC offense, which was held to just 19 points in the half. A late three for Bentley was the final make as the home team earned the 79-45 victory.
Felder led AIC with 15 points, while Balde notched 12 and a team-best eight rebounds.Â
AIC returns to the Butova Gymnasium on Saturday, January 17 at 3:30 p.m. for another NE10 contest against Southern Connecticut State University.
