SPRINGFIELD, Massachusetts - The American International College women's soccer team fell 5-0 against No. 7 Franklin Pierce University on Saturday, September 20.
AIC is now 1-3-0 overall and 0-1-0 in Northeast 10 Conference play.
In the 18th minute, Claudia Peirce ripped a shot inside the box, hitting off the post, giving Mckenna Maguire an easy tap in on the goal line for the Ravens.
In the 28th minute of the first half, FPU had a free kick. There was a scrum in the box, finding the foot of Grace Martin. The Ravens captain slammed the ball into the AIC net, putting the Yellow Jackets down 2-0.Â
In the 47th minute, Martin found Peirce in behind the defense. The senior took the breakaway and slotted the ball in, giving FPU a 3-0 lead.
The Ravens kept attacking, and were able to find a fourth goal by Makenzie Shean, tapping the ball in on a rebound after a phenomenal stop by Sara Avery.
In the 88th minute, Mikayla Horton was able to get a shot into the net after Avery made two stops during a scrum in the box, and the Ravens walked off Abdow Field with a 5-0 win over the Yellow Jackets.Â
Avery had twelve saves at the end of the match.Â
The Yellow Jackets will next face Southern New Hampshire University on Tuesday September 23, in Manchester, New Hampshire at 7:00 p.m.Â
