SPRINGFIELD, Massachusetts – The American International College field hockey team had a hard-fought match, losing 2-1 against Lincoln Memorial University on Thursday, September 11.
AIC is now 0-3 on the season.
The Railsplitters went up 1-0 with a goal from Kiarra Aleskovich that was tipped in on a shot by Jimena Loustalot in the fourth minute of the first quarter.
In the second quarter,
Maddie Darling appeared to score on a corner, but it was called off.
In the twenty-fifth minute, Olivia Rosini capped off the second goal of the game, given to her by Kelsey Beauchamp.
Right before the end of the second quarter, AIC found the back of the net, cutting the deficit back down to one.
Milagros Zanatelli got the rebound from a deflected shot and was able to find the back of the net.
The Yellow Jackets fought back hard in the second half; both teams were going back and forth. In the last-minute of the game
Anella Rossi had a shot to try to tie the game, but it went wide of the net.
Frederique den Hartog made five saves in the loss.
The team's next game is against Franklin Pierce University at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 13 at Abdow Field.
