SPRINGFIELD, Massachusetts – American International College has named Lillian Humphries as its Head Cross Country Coach on Monday, August 4, Director of Athletics Rob Kearney announced.

"Throughout the interview process Lillian impressed the entire staff with her experience and philosophy around coaching and recruiting. Having coached at the high school, club and Division I levels, we are confident Lillian can continue the momentum Coach Parsley has gained in building the Cross Country and Track and Field Programs to compete at the highest level," Kearney said.

"Throughout the hiring process it was apparent that AIC and the athletic department are working towards actively growing and have a lot of positive momentum. I am excited for this new chapter and grateful to have Director Vic Parsley and Coach Junior Williams to work alongside. There is hard work and adapting ahead but great things happen when everyone is working together and you have full support," Humphries said.

Humphries, who is the first woman to be named the Head Coach of AIC's cross country program, spent the past two seasons with the Jacksonville State University women's and men's cross country and track & field programs, specializing in middle- and long-distance events, but also assisted with sprints and field events.

While with the Gamecocks, Humphries led a contingent that saw tremendous individual and team success. She coached athletes who set program marks, such as Olivia King in the indoor 5000-meter run, and helped the men's cross country team to a third-place team finish at the 2024 Conference USA Cross Country Championship, the highest finish in program history.

Her coaching experience also includes two years at Deshler High School in Tuscumbia, Alabama, as an assistant track coach from 2023-2025, and as an assistant coach at the Texas Thunder Track Club in the summer of 2019 and again from 2021-2022.

As a student-athlete, Humphries ran at the University of North Alabama on the cross country team and earned Atlantic Sun Conference All-Freshman honors in 2019.

She earned a bachelor of science in exercise science from North Alabama in 2023, and obtained a master of science in physical education from Jacksonville State in 2025.
