CAMBRIDGE, Massachusetts – The American International College women's rugby team faced off against two-time defending National Intercollegiate Rugby Association Division I National Champion Harvard University and fell 55-7 to the Crimson to open the 2025 season on Saturday, August 30.

AIC is 0-1 on the season.

The Crimson put together two quick tries, as Sana'a Lunon and Tiahna Padilla scored in the first seven minutes and converted both, but AIC's defense settled in. The Crimson did score again, as Lunon tapped down in the corner of the try zone, and Gemma Ogoke also scored with a conversion.

The Yellow Jackets continued to battle, and the effort paid off as they scored in stoppage time. After Jendell Moe and Camryn Henderson pushed the Yellow Jackets inside of the Harvard 22-meter line, Venise Sanft picked the ball up and split the Harvard defense before offloading to Mahina Hafoka, who was able to cover the remaining distance to the try line. Henderson converted from the left side of the uprights to cap the half.

AIC's second-half effort was strong, and led to a few more chances, but the Yellow Jackets were stopped short of the try line, and the Crimson scored six tries with two conversions in the second half for the 55-7 final.

The Yellow Jackets kick off at home on Sunday, September 14 against another NIRA Division I opponent, Sacred Heart University. That game is slated for a 5:00 p.m. start.
