SPRINGFIELD, Massachusetts - In a pitching duel, the American International College baseball team fell short, 2-1 in the 2025 Northeast-10 Conference Baseball Championship Semifinal on Saturday, May 10.
AIC ends the season at 20-24.
The Yellow Jackets struck first, with Yeudy Ramirez leading off AIC's offensive efforts being hit by pitch. He advanced to third on a failed pickoff that ended up in right field, and scored on a sacrifice fly by Josh Frometa.
That was all AIC could muster, however, as the Penmen tied the game in the third and scored what proved to be the winning run in the fifth.
Hayden Mutz threw five innings, allowing the two runs on six hits with three walks.
Anderson Cuello Batista was brilliant in relief. He threw four shutout innings, allowing just two hits and a walk with five strikeouts; his efforts earned him a spot on the Northeast-10 Championship All-Tournament Team.
