Nunez scores, but Women's Soccer falls at Pace

PLEASANTVILLE, New York - The American International College women's soccer team dropped a 4-1 decision at Pace University in Northeast 10 Conference play on Saturday, October 25.

AIC is now 2-9-2 overall and 1-6-0 in the NE10.

The Yellow Jackets broke the ice at the 24:00 mark, as Elena Nunez volleyed a corner kick from Alyssa Stetson into the right corner of the net for her second of the season.

Sara Avery was able to make the goal stand up through halftime with six saves in the first 45 minutes.

In the second half, the Setters offense exploded. The hosts tied the game at 50:21 on a Kelly Dubois goal and took the lead at 61:36 as Dubois set up Meredith Klosek. A penalty by Andrea Flores at 76:32 added to the lead, and Dubois picked up her fourth point of the half setting up Allison Carr at 84:37.

Despite the results, Avery shined again, adding to her six-save first half with a seven-save second for 13 total; she has made a career-best 73 saves this season, which leads the NE10.

AIC will play its home finale on Saturday, November 1 at 7:00 p.m. against Assumption University.
