WORCESTER, Massachusetts - The American International College football team lost 35-14 to Assumption University on Saturday, October 25 in its final Northeast 10 Conference road game of the 2025 season.
AIC is now 0-7 with an 0-5 NE10 record.
The Yellow Jackets struck first, putting together a strong 10-play, 75-yard drive on the first sequence of the game.
Brian Lafrance caught three passes of more than 10 yards, and
Fatir Bell hauled in a 27-yard catch on a 3rd-and-12 to keep things going.
Bo Catherwood caught the final
Cephas Williams pass, an 11-yard touchdown strike, and after
Santana Fonseca knocked in the extra point, AIC led 7-0 6:02 in.
Just as quickly, the lead was gone; Assumption's Jay Kastintin found AJ Robinson behind the defense for a 75-yard touchdown pass on Assumption's first offensive play from scrimmage.
AIC shook off the big play and responded with another long drive, the first 14 plays of which took the game to the end of the first quarter and included a
Connor Dietz first-down scramble on 4th-and-3. Dietz ultimately took it in himself on the second play of the second frame with a one-yard touchdown run, and Fonseca re-established the seven-point edge with the PAT.
Both teams came up empty on their next drives, but Assumption was able to tie the game on a 10-play drive that ended in a Kameron Robbins touchdown rush from the AIC one-yard line and a Massimo Sgambati PAT.Â
AIC went three-and-out on its next turn with the ball, but got it back quickly as
Marquis Lundy knocked the ball out of the hands of AJ Robinson and
Tra'Vion Singleton dove on it at the AIC 29. The Yellow Jackets did not turn that drive into points, and the Greyhounds took advantage, scoring just before the half ended on a 26-yard Robbins catch. The subsequent kick gave the home side a 21-14 lead at the break.
Assumption added touchdowns in each subsequent quarter for the 35-14 final.
Williams went 19-of-24 for 192 yards. Catherwood had the most all-purpose yards, with 61 on the ground on 14 carries and five catches for 40 yards for 101 total.
Jakkai Stith led AIC with six tackles, and
Nevin Earl got to runners behind the line of scrimmage twice.
AIC returns home to face Post University on Saturday, November 1 at 1:00 p.m.
