WORCESTER, Massachusetts - The American International College wrestling team went 0-3 against Roger Williams University, Worcester Polytechnic Institute, and Norwich University on Saturday, November 23, falling by scores of 31-19, 43-7, and 30-21.
Against Roger Williams, Jack Sullivan started AIC off with a pin of Tyler Lanci at 6:11, and Joseph Aldrich won an 11-7 major decision against Trey Kaupp at 133. Cqari Bacote then pinned Gavin McKenna in 6:45 at 149. Markys Lissaint rounded out AIC's wins with a 12-2 major decision over Rome Smith at 174.
Bacote grabbed another win against Jonah Weber of Worcester Polytechnic, scoring a wild 26-15 major decision that featured three nearfalls. Teghan McConnell then won a crafty 7-4 decision over Ryan Hsu, taking a 4-4 tie into the third, choosing bottom and then reversing for the winning points.
Against Norwich, Aldrich and Aaron Morocho both scored major decisions, with a 13-3 win over Carver Moyer and a 21-13 win over Billy Burke respectively. Bacote narrowly missed a major as well, completing a perfect day with a 20-13 win over Gannon White. McConnell and Lissaint both also won again, taking five points each with technical falls over Jonathan Neypes and Gabriel Moltumyr.
AIC also won two exhibition matches against Norwich; Jaron Andre pinned James Hoyt at 6:10, and Luis Rosa took a 15-4 major decision against Joshua Lister.
The Yellow Jackets next head to the Ted Reese Invitational at the University of Southern Maine on Saturday, December 7.
