SPRINGFIELD, Massachusetts - Christian Torres struck a late-first-half goal, but two tallies in the second half gave Southern Connecticut State University a 2-1 Northeast-10 Conference win over the American International College men's soccer team on Saturday, November 2.
AIC is now 0-10-4 overall and 0-5-3 in the NE10.
Torres' goal came off of a turnover; a pass back from the midfield went right to him, and Torres was able to take advantage of defenders who were heading the other direction to step in and get away a shot that eluded the Owls netminder at 38:38.
In the second half, the Owls tied the contest on a corner kick by Samuel Nagy that was headed in by Edward Mensah at 58:19.
Nagy then struck the winner, a free kick from the right side above the 18-yard box that he was able to fire off the left post at 75:42.
Lucas Morales-Fernandez made six stops in the setback.
AIC closes its season on Wednesday, November 6 at 4:00 p.m. against Assumption University at Abdow Field.
