WEST HAVEN, Connecticut - The American International College women's lacrosse team fell 23-8 to No. 22 University of New Haven on Saturday, April 8 in a Northeast-10 Conference contest.
AIC is now 2-7 with an 0-6 NE10 mark.
Gabrielle Walz started the scoring for AIC on a free position bid just 1:08 into play, but the Chargers responded with a 5-0 run over the next six minutes. AIC roared right back with three in a row, as Liz Day and Antonella Mikolyuk each scored before Jordyn Galgay set up Kathryn Moody for a strike. New Haven ended AIC's run before the quarter break and led 6-4 after one.
The Chargers then exploded offensively in the second, scoring 10 times. AIC did notch two goals in the frame, with Mikolyuk adding another and Walz setting up Moody late in the period while shorthanded, but AIC trailed 16-6 at the break.
Moody capped the hat trick in the third, and Sam Giordano netted a fourth-frame goal, but the Chargers pulled away in the second half for the 23-8 final.
AIC returns to Ronald J. Abdow Field on Wednesday, April 12 at 4:00 p.m. It will be the team's Morgan's Message Game.
