ALBANY, New York - The American International College women's lacrosse team fell 18-6 to The College of Saint Rose in Northeast-10 Conference play on Wednesday, April 26.
AIC is now 3-11 and 1-10 in NE10 play.
The teams both scored in the first 37 seconds as Kathyrn Moody answered an early Saint Rose strike off of a feed from Antonella Mikolyuk, but the Golden Knights took charge from there, scoring five of the next six in the frame. AIC's other tally came from Jordyn Galgay.
The second was a struggle; both teams had chances turned back. The Golden Knights netted two, taking an 8-2 lead into the break.
Isabelle Stone set up Gabrielle Walz early in the third to give AIC some life, but Saint Rose went on a six-goal run before Lauren Smithers won a draw and cut in from the right side to score her first collegiate goal. Sam Giordano then tallied at the end of the period to cut the gap to 14-5.
Saint Rose held AIC off most of the rest of the way, adding four goals before the conclusion, although the final tally came for AIC from Anevay Rice at 14:03.
AIC finishes the 2023 season at home on Saturday, April 29 at 1:00 p.m. against Adelphi University.
