CAMBRIDGE, Massachusetts - The American International College women's rugby team was plate runner-up at the Crimson 7s, going 2-2 on the tournament held at Harvard University on Saturday, March 25.
AIC opened against the A side for the hosts, and the Crimson - the eventual champions - defeated the Yellow Jackets 41-0 to open pool play. AIC rebounded, however, taking down Princeton University with a hard-fought 29-17 decision.
Placed into the Plate Semifinal, the Yellow Jackets battled the second Harvard side, and this time AIC came out on top, taking a 19-10 win. However, Long Island University got the better of AIC in the Plate Final, winning 19-5 to end the day for the Yellow Jackets.
AIC's next tournament will be its own, as the Yellow Jackets host the Yellow Jacket 7s on Sunday, April 2. The field of 16 teams will feature teams from Northeastern University, Sacred Heart University, Army West Point, and others.
