SPRINGFIELD, Massachusetts - The American International College men's lacrosse team fell 12-3 to No. 11 Pace University in Northeast-10 Conference play on Saturday, March 25.
AIC drops to 2-5 with the loss, including an 0-2 NE10 mark.
The Yellow Jackets were able to frustrate the Setters early, forcing a pair of shot clock violations, and then drew a penalty. On that extra man opportunity, Dylan Seymour threaded the needle to Rusty Stone with a pass, and AIC's scoring leader finished the chance at 3:49 to give the Yellow Jackets the lead.
Pace responded with a pair of goals down the stretch to take the lead after one period of play, and a four-goal outburst over a 2:01 span early in the second put the Setters up 6-1 before Seymour added his second point of the day with a goal off of a feed from Stephen Stratton. However, Pace added two more before the frame ended and led 8-2 at halftime.
In the third, Pace scored four early goals, but AIC's defenses tightened up, and the Yellow Jackets held the Setters scoreless over the final 23:32 of play, including stopping three 60-second extra man opporunities. Devon Walker ended the game on a high note for AIC with a goal at 14:59 of the fourth for the 12-3 final.
Hayden Gaudette made 16 saves in the setback.
The Yellow Jackets continue NE10 play on Tuesday, March 28 against Franklin Pierce University.
