SPRINGFIELD, Massachusetts - The American International College field hockey team fell 2-1 to Mercy University on Saturday, October 14 in Northeast-10 Conference play.
AIC is now 6-7 overall and 3-6 in the NE10.
The Mavericks jumped to a quick lead as Rachel Palladino scored just 36 seconds in. However, AIC bounced back with a tally at 5:04. Na'Bree Wallace fed the ball back to the left side for a shot by Dominique Bassallo for her second of the season.
In the second, the Mavericks retook the lead; Palladino scored again at 9:39 of the frame.
AIC controlled the game in the second half, outshooting the Mavericks 16-8 over the final 30, but did not score again.
The team returns to action Wednesday, October 18 at Saint Anselm College.
