MILLERSVILLE, Pennsylvania - The American International College wrestling team competed at the Millersville Duals at Millersville University on Saturday, January 28, falling to host Millersville 40-9 and to Shippensburg University 22-21 but defeating Camden County College 34-15.
Seven bouts were contested for AIC against Shippensburg, of which AIC won three. Tommy Nichols defeated Michael Trainor with a strong third period that included a pair of takedowns to earn a 7-6 decision at 149, while Jack MacKiernan and Justin Osler won more comfortable decisions, 10-3 and 5-2, at 174 and 197 respectively.
AIC won five of the seven contested bouts against Camden Country. Liam Pritchard Holland took a 10-8 decision and Aaron Morocho scored an 11-2 major decision to open things at 125 and 133. Nichols scored his second win at 149 with an 11-6 decision before Joel Morth pinned his opponent at the 1:58 mark in the 157-pound bout. Osler also pinned his opposition at 2:42 in the 197 match to close out the win.
Finally, AIC won two more bouts against Millersville. MacKiernan scored all three points in the third period of a tight 3-2 win over Andrew Vogelbacher at 174, and Osler completed his undefeated day when Lucas Doyle was unable to continue due to injury at 3:29 in what had been a scoreless bout.
AIC will face Norwich University at home on Saturday, February 4 at 5:00 p.m.
