Men's volleyball falls at D'Youville

BUFFALO, New York -- The American International College men's volleyball team fell 25-9, 25-15, 25-17 to D'Youville University on Friday, January 20.

AIC is now 0-5 on the season.

The first set belonged to the Saints. AIC battled early, but the hosts went on a 15-2 run to put it away. They extended that run by taking the first three points of the second before John Rivera Ortiz landed a kill and followed with an ace, and Pedro Panelli scored a kill as well to tie the set 3-3. The Saints regained the edge on the next rally, however, and ultimately took the set by scoring 10 of the last 15 points. In the third, the home squad quickly built another five-point edge and sustained it through the set, finishing the match off with the 25-17 victory.

Wilmer Rodriguez had a team-best six kills on the night. Ortiz had five kills and five digs, while Michael Maldonado dished 11 assists.

AIC returns to action at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 21 at Daemen University.
