Men's lacrosse ends season with loss against Saint Michael's

SPRINGFIELD, Massachusetts - The American International College men's lacrosse team closed out the 2022 campaign with a 20-11 loss to Saint Michael's College in Northeast-10 Conference play on Tuesday, April 26.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • After Cristian Reyes scored the game's first goal, AIC struck for the next three. Vincent Orlandi tied the game at 2:38, and then Ben Hardcastle put AIC ahead on a shot he took while on the ground after a heavy check at 8:24. Tyler Shrewsbury won the next faceoff and set up Stephen Stratton to score just 10 seconds later.
  • The Purple Knights countered with two to tie the game before the quarter ended and then opened the scoring in the second. Rusty Stone re-tied the game at 5:06, but Saint Michael's scored four more times before the break to lead 8-4 at the half.
  • The teams traded goals in the third, with both sides scoring five. Seamus Hayes started AIC's offense again at 2:22, and Devon Walker and Stone each scored twice.
  • Jason Vickery scored early, and set up Hunter Terlik for a strike in the first five minutes of the final frame, but the Purple Knights pulled away for a 20-11 win.

UP THE RANKINGS:

  • Stone concluded the season with 64 goals for his career, sixth in program history.
  • He also broke the 75-point plateau in his three seasons. His 76 career points rate him ninth.
  • Clark Marchand ended his third season with 159 ground balls and 52 caused turnovers, tied for fourth and then sixth respectively.
  • Jason Vickery's 28 helpers rank seventh in AIC men's lacrosse history.
