HOW IT HAPPENED:
Match 1:
- King's took an early 5-2 lead and never looked back as they took the opening set 25-14.
- The Monarchs continued to roll in the second set going up 13-6. Rookies Wilmer Rodriguez and Ben Warren posted back-to-back kills to try and get things going for the Yellow Jackets. They trailed 18-11 when Warren added a kill and Rodriguez two to make it 18-14 but the Monarchs took the second set 25-17.
- With their backs against the wall, the Yellow Jackets came out and took five of the first six points to start the third including kills from freshmen John Rivera Ortiz and Pedro Panelli. King's rallied for the next five points to knot the set up before taking the set 25-17.
Match 2:
- The Yellow Jackets had an early 6-3 lead thanks in part to a pair of kills by Warren and a block from freshman Alex Marinaro and Wilmer Rodriguez. Widener used an 8-1 run to help them take the first set 25-17.
- The Pride jumped out to a 14-3 lead in the second stanza on their way to taking the second set 25-15.
- Trailing 5-3, the Yellow Jackets forced the Pride the make four consecutive errors to take the 7-5 lead. The Pride answered by going on a 10-3 run. AIC was down 21-15 when the Yellow Jackets rallied off five of the next six points to make it a two-point game but the Pride shut the door as they took the set 25-21.
