HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The Yellow Jacket bats were alive from the beginning of the game. Junior Chad Lavelle was hit by a pitch to start the game. After stealing second, classmate Micahel Cruz hit a blooper over the first basemen's head which allowed AIC to have runners on the corners. Senior Dalton Quinn hit a sacrifice fly to right which allowed Lavalle to score. With the bases empty, junior Alejandro Mosquera went deep to the left-center to give AIC the 2-0 lead.
- In the bottom of the third, Quinn singled to second base and Cruz went from second to third. Quinn took off on a pitch and forced a throw down to second which Cruz took advantage of and scored. Quinn ultimately scored when graduate Anthony Clark struck out swinging but reached as the ball made its way to the backstop and Quinn added another run to the board.
- Assumption started a comeback in the top of the fifth as the Greyhounds scored three runs on four hits to make it a one-run game.
- Quinn added an insurance run on the board when he hit a homer to left-center in the bottom of the inning.
- The Greyhounds took a 7-5 lead after their half of the sixth as Preston hit a grand slam.
- The Yellow Jackets knew they had to start chipping away as they came to bat in the eighth. Sophomore Cam Fitzgerald pinch-hit and went deep to left center with a runner on to tie the game at seven.
- After holding the Greyhounds scoreless in the top of the ninth, Mosquera stepped up to the plate. With a 1-2 count, he hit a no-doubter to left center and gave AIC the 8-7 walk-off win.
