Lavelle goes deep as baseball's late push falls short against Stonehill

Box Score BOCA RATON, Florida – The American International College baseball team fell by a score of 16-4 against Stonehill College in Florida on Friday, March 11.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • The Skyhawks struck first in the top of the third inning as they scored seven runs. They added three runs in the fifth to take the double-digit lead.
  • In the top of the seventh, the Skyhawks added a six-pack to their lead.
  • The Yellow Jackets swarmed in the bottom of the ninth. Junior Alejandro Mosquera hit a leadoff double to center on the first pitch. Rookie Kiernan Caffery singled up the middle and Mosquera scampered to third. Classmate Austin Bequeath followed with a single down the right-field line which allowed Mosquera to score and Caffery to move to third. Junior Chad Lavelle cleared the bases as he went deep to right to put three runs on the board. Freshman Joseph Lynch kept things rolling with a double down the left-field line. That ended the hits for the Yellow Jackets as they fell by a score of 16-4.
