Jordan hangs 21 in men's basketball loss to Adelphi

SPRINGFIELD, Massachusetts - The American International College men's basketball played a Sunday afternoon Northeast-10 Conference game against Adelphi on January 9. The Yellow Jackets outscored the Panthers in the second half but fell 73-66.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • The Yellow Jackets came out hot to start the game on both ends. Junior Frankyn Batista hit a jumper on the first AIC possession of the game to open the scoring. Sophomore Jalen Jordan added to the lead at the 18-minute mark. The Yellow Jackets continued to roll as they held the Panthers to two points in the first six minutes of the game.
  • Adelphi started to find their groove and tied the game at 10 with 12:43 on the clock. They lead by as many as 13 in the half but took a nine-point lead into halftime.
  • The Panthers continued to roll as they led by as many as 15 but with 5:19 remaining in the game, AIC started to make a push as they trailed 65-54.
  • Jordan hit a jumper off the pass from graduate Jordan Vidal who nailed a pair at the line on the next AIC possession to make it a seven-point game. With 78 seconds left Vidal found the bottom of the net and brought it within two possessions.
  • Trailing 69-62 with under a minute left Vidal once again had a layup this time to put AIC within three.
  • It would be as close as the home team would get as the Panthers went four-for-four from the line in the last 29 seconds to take the game 73-66.
