SOUTH KINGSTON, Rhode Island - The American International College men's basketball headed to Rhode Island to take on the University of Rhode Island on Sunday, January 2, and fell by a score of 70-55.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The Rams wasted no time as they scored 13 seconds into the game on a layup by Makhi Mitchell. Mitchell added a pair of free throws before junior Franklyn Batista hit a layup and put AIC on the board before the first media timeout.
- Batista knocked a pair of free throws down after the media timeout to tie the game at four.
- With 8:35 remaining in the first the Rams started to pull away as they led 18-11. Trailing 33-15 the Yellow Jackets locked down on defense and held the Rams from any field goals in the last 2:47 of the first half. Additionally, the Yellow Jackets forced the Rams into two more turnovers than AIC in the half but the Yellow Jackets trailed 35-22 at the break.
- The Rams outscored the Yellow Jackets early in the second half and went up by as many as 20 but AIC was able to cut their deficit to 15 as URI took the game 70-55.
