GARDEN CITY, NEW YORK- The American International College softball team was on the road against the Adelphi University Panthers and dropped a doubleheader on Saturday, May 1.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
Game 1:
- Adelphi opened and closed up the scoring in the fourth inning as Lauren O'Neill was brought home on a double by Faith Camilleri to left center. Camilleri followed suit soon after as she scored on a Kendall Winn single up the middle. Angela Lignelli had the final scoring play of the game as she brought Winn home on her single to center field.
Game 2:
- The Yellow Jackets struck first in the first inning when Victoria Andrade hit a single to right which was enough to bring Jalia Santos home to give them a 1-0 lead over the Panthers.
- Adelphi got on the board in the third inning when Emily Whitman and Amanda Owens scored on a double by Sophia Cicchetti to right center, to give the Panthers the 2-1 lead.
- Still in the third inning, the Panthers added two more to their lead as O'Neill touched home on a sacrifice flyout by Winn. Cicchetti scored soon after when Hannah Pineda singled to center.
- Owens was brought home again in the fourth inning on a single by O'Neill.
- Adelphi secured the victory over the Yellow Jackets in the sixth as they added two more runs from Whitman and Farhat on a single to left by Daniella Roselli.
NEXT UP:
- The Yellow Jackets will be starting playoff action on Tuesday, May 3, opponent and times are still to be determined. As of Saturday, May 1 if all standings remain as they are currently the Yellow Jackets would be heading to Southern Connecticut State University. However, Pace and New Haven are scheduled to play two games tomorrow, Sunday, May 2 which could change the current standings and potential opponent.
