Hicks scores in men's soccer setback against Saint Rose

SPRINGFIELD, Massachusetts The American International College men's soccer team ended the spring season with a 3-1 setback against The College of Saint Rose on Sunday, April 18.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Barely one minute into the game, Saint Rose's Andrew Lule struck first on a header off of a corner kick by Casper Rasmussen.
  • Through the first half both teams exchanged chances, with each goalkeeper making two stops in the half.
  • AIC came out of the break pressuring hard and created some good chances but Saint Rose's defense played well to keep AIC off the board.
  • In the 56th minute, Saint Rose's Oskar Aastroem had a great scoring chance to make it 2-0, but Michael Tranghese came up with a big save to keep it within one.
  • In the 70th minute Saint Rose's Josh Elliott made it 2-0 on a shot from the right side of the box. AIC counterattacked in the 74th minute, as Samir Regragui put a shot on target, but Henning made an outstanding save on the chance, and Saint Rose turned it up the field, where Erick Radtke scored on a header to make it 3-0 Saint Rose.
  • AIC's Connor Hicks scored the first goal of the night for the Yellow Jackets moments later on a header of his own, putting away a pass from Colin Spaulding to make it 3-1.
  • Saint Rose's defense clamped down on the Yellow Jackets, preventing AIC creating any dangerous scoring chances as Saint Rose earned a 3-1 win.
