WEST HAVEN, Connecticut The American International College women's lacrosse team fell 17-7 to the No. 15 University of New Haven in the Northeast-10 Conference opener for both teams on Saturday, March 13.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- New Haven's Annie Acquavita opened the scoring at 3:49, and Marina Skelly added to the host's lead at 8:33. However, senior Krista Iwanicki broke the shutout at 11:08 with her first of the season.
- Emily Holland put the Chargers back ahead by a pair just past the midpoint of the half, but AIC freshman Anevay Rice answered with her first collegiate goal at 18:16, and senior Devin Coulter tied the game at 21:15. Skelly potted her second of the game at 22:21, but the Yellow Jackets again had a response, as sophomore Liz Day scored to tie the contest 4-4 at 23:40.
- New Haven went on a three-goal run over 1:41 as Holland scored twice, bookending another tally by Skelly, to push the Chargers to a 7-4 lead. Junior Molly Leavitt struck back with just 10 seconds left in the frame, but the Chargers countered in the final moment of the half to get to the break up 8-5.
- The hosts burst out of halftime with four goals in the first seven minutes and never looked back, running the lead to 17-5 with just over five minutes to play. Iwanicki and Day each scored again late in regulation for the 17-7 final.
DAVIS MOVES UP:
- With three ground balls in the game, graduate goalkeeper Chelsea Davis moved into fourth all-time in program history with 131 ground balls, passing Morgan Mastronardi '10. She is four behind Alexis Torosian '17 for third and five behind Stefanie Dufresne '17 for second.
- The program record is held by Gina Gallo '11 with 169.
