SPRINGFIELD, Massachusetts The American International College women's basketball team and Southern Connecticut State University battled in a senior day match on Saturday, February 8 in Northeast-10 play. The Owls spoiled the celebration with a 49-34 win over the Yellow Jackets.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- After Southern Connecticut scored the first point of the game at the charity stripe, senior guard Rashana Siders and junior guard Destine Perry drained threes on back-to-back possessions. The Owls took their first multiple-point lead at the 4:50 mark of the quarter, making it 8-6. After 10 minutes of play, the visitors had the 13-8 lead.
- Trailing 15-10, junior forward Sara Guntin Barriero made it a three-point game on a layup. Freshman guard AJ Washington cut it to two when she knocked down a free throw just past the halfway point of the quarter. Southern Connecticut grew the lead to seven with almost two minutes remaining in the half. Robinson answered with two layups in 10 seconds to cut it to three with 1:06 on the clock, but the visitors knocked down two free throws to take the five-point lead into the locker room.
- Siders came out ready to shoot as she nailed her first shot from deep to make it a two-point game. Trailing 31-22 with 1:42 remining in the quarter, Perry and Siders had layups on back-to-back possessions. The Owls ended the quarter on a layup to bring it back to a three-possession game.
- The Owls first double-digit lead came in the fourth quarter on a layup by Imani Wheeler to make it 37-26. The Yellow Jackets cut the Southern Connecticut lead down to eight, but the Owls kept the home team at bay as they took the game 49-34.
