HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • The Golden Knights took the first four points of the game, but redshirt freshman Bane Terzic moved the score for the Yellow Jackets with a jumper. Trailing 15-4, senior forward Trevaun Hyatt jumpstarted the AIC offense with a jumper. On the next possession Vidal kept the scoring with another two-pointer. Anderson made a layup, but Hyatt answered a few possessions later with a layup of his own. Terzic and senior forward Zekiah Owens rounded out the 10-2 run with a jumper and dunk that forced a timeout by St. Rose.
  • With 8:46 remaining in the opening frame, Owens found freshman guard Jalen Jordan for a three that made it a 29-21 game. Three possessions later, senior guard Logan Santiago grabbed the defensive rebound and put up the three in transition to make it a two-possession game. Owens hit a free throw at the 7:06 mark that Hyatt followed up with a steal and layup to cut their deficit to two.
  • After a St. Rose free throw, Owens flew high and made it a one-point game on a thunderous dunk. Forty-two seconds later, Jordan gave AIC its first lead of the game on a layup. The home team took the lead on its next chance and did not look back in the half. At the break, the Golden Knights had the 43-39 advantage.
  • Almost two minutes into the final stanza, junior guard Shyhiem Hicks hit a jumper to bring it back within one basket.
  • The Yellow Jacket defense locked in from the 16:11 mark until 12:30. During that timeframe, they forced two turnovers while the Golden Knights shot 0-for-5 from the floor. With 10:31 remaining in the season, the Yellow Jackets trailed 60-50.
  • There was four and a half minutes left when the Golden Knights started to allow the Yellow Jackets back in with a 6-0 run over two minutes to make it 69-66.
  • Owens swished a jumper with two and a half left that made it 71-68. After a pair of missed free throws, Hicks found the bottom of the net on a three from the right wing to tie the game at 71. The home team drew a shooting foul on the next possession and Sekou Sylla hit both shots. Vidal crossed the timeline and called a timeout. Out of the huddle, the Yellow Jackets turned the ball over as a bad pass forced Owens to step out of bounds. With under a minute left to play, the Yellow Jackets turned up the defensive pressure and drew an offensive foul.
  • Vidal dribbled the ball up the floor as the Yellow Jackets set up in a horns set. Vidal passed to the left elbow, cut down through the right side, came off a down screen and caught the ball at the top of the key. He jabbed to his left foot once to get the defender off balance and proceeded to get to the basket where his shot was blocked, but after he drew the foul. He went to the line and hit both to knot the game at 73. With the shot clock and game clock separated by 1.2 seconds, the Yellow Jackets' defense forced a shot clock violation.
  • The Yellow Jackets had to go the length of the floor. Jordan took the ball out of bounds and threw it to the opposite free throw line, but the official called him for an infraction and the Golden Knights took possession of the ball on their own baseline. On the inbound play, the pass went to the opposite short corner and Adam Anderson put the shot up. As the ball was in the air the horn sounded, and the shot went through the net to give the home team the 75-73 win.
