HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Tied at five in the opening frame, senior guard Rashana Siders stole an errant pass by the Purple Knights and finished the layup to give AIC its first lead of the night. St. Michael's made a triple on the other end to retake the lead. Freshman guard Kayla Robinson answered with a basket from deep that ignited an AIC run. The Yellow Jackets forced a stop at the other end, then junior guard Destine Perry drove to the basket and drew the shooting foul. She stepped up to the stripe and knocked the pair down. The Yellow Jackets closed out the last three minutes of the quarter with a 6-0 run.
- The Purple Knights made it a 23-20 game with just under four minutes remaining in the first half, but the Yellow Jackets controlled the ebb and flow over the final minutes of the frame. The longest run of AIC points started with a three by Perry with 1:41 on the clock. Robinson and senior guard Nadia Wooten each nailed a triple in the final 25 seconds to give the Yellow Jackets the 35-22 lead at the break.
- AIC came out firing in the second half with a pair of free throws by Perry and two layups by Robinson gave the Yellow Jackets the 20-point lead. St. Michael's kept pushing back despite the Yellow Jackets' 24-point lead as they cut it down to 14 with 42 ticks remaining in the third stanza. With nine seconds left, Perry swished a three that made it 55-38.
- The fourth quarter was back-and-forth, but the Yellow Jackets did not allow the Purple Knights closer than 15 points as they snapped their three-game losing streak with the 67-50 win.
