Three men's basketball players score in double-digits vs Franklin Pierce

SPRINGFIELD, Massachusetts The American International College men's basketball team fell by a score of 70-56 on Saturday, January 11 to Franklin Pierce University in Northeast-10 Conference play.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • The Yellow Jackets struck first as senior forward Zekiah Owens went up for a layup and got fouled. At the line he missed the first but swished the second. The 1-0 lead didn't last long as the Ravens' Falu Seck hit a triple on the next possession. Junior guard Xion Golding hit the first AIC field goal of the game at the 17:12 mark. Junior guard Shyheim Hicks one-upped Golding with a three from the wing to give AIC the 6-5 lead. The Ravens took the first double digit lead of the night at the 2:26 mark of the first half on a layup that made it 28-18. Over the final minutes of the opening frame, the Ravens took the 32-20 lead to head into the break.
  • After a pair of layups by the visitors, Owens and junior guard Jordan Vidal each scored a pair to even the scoring in the second frame. With 12:43 remaining, Doyin Fadojutimi grabbed a defensive rebound and went coast-to-coast for a fastbreak layup to extend their lead to 18.
  • Senior forward Goree Venable-Gonzalez and freshman forward Jalen Jordan hit lay ups to make it a 14-point game. Thirty seconds later, senior forward Trevaun Hyatt hit a layup of his own to cut it to a dozen. Franklin Pierce grew their lead to as many as 25 before taking the game 70-56.
