HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • AIC was on the board early on a corner kick; though the Bentley defense turned aside the initial bid, junior Connor Hicks crossed the rebound along the grass and freshman Tobias Paulsen won the ball at the top of the six, redirecting it into the net at 10:07.
  • The lead did not last five minutes, as Bentley scored on its next offensive opportunity; a cross by Ronan Fitzpatrick from the right was headed by Connor Mote back to the right side of the net at 15:00.
  • The Yellow Jackets nearly regained the advantage on a shot by Hicks, but his blast from the right side of the box in the 31st minute hit the left post flush.
  • In the second half, Bentley took the lead as Mote crossed a free kick that was headed home by Julian Stewart at 61:53.
  • Bentley nearly scored again in the 76th minute, but graduate goalkeeper Ben Taylor stopped a shot on a breakaway to keep his team in the game. AIC almost immediately had two quality chances on a corner at the other end, but senior Steven Carias and Paulsen both had shots turned away, the latter behind the goalkeeper by Bentley defender Hunter Marshall.
  • Paulsen nearly equalized with just under three minutes to play on a through ball in the box, but his shot went just high. The team continued to press, drawing two more corners and generating a chance that went wide and another that was blocked, but could not equalize and fell 2-1.

NEXT UP:
  • The Yellow Jackets return home on the first day of October for a Tuesday night showdown with Assumption College at 7 p.m.
