The Atlantic Hockey Conference released the results of the 2019-20 AHC Coaches' Poll on Tuesday, September 24. The Yellow Jackets were selected to repeat as league champions.
For full results of the poll, see below.
The Yellow Jackets completed the 2018-19 regular season at 18-9-1, and then won the AHC Championship Tournament as well. That was enough to get 10 of the 11 possible first-place votes and an even 100 points, both by far the most ever in program history.
The three teams projected to finish directly behind AIC are in a tight grouping. Niagara University, which was picked last in last year's poll but ultimately was AIC's foe in the Conference Championship game, is slated second with 78 points, one ahead of both Bentley University and Sacred Heart University at 77 points; the Falcons earned the one other first-place vote.
RIT is the last team expected to earn a first-round bye, as the Tigers took 66 points and fifth place, six points ahead of the Air Force Academy in sixth place. Robert Morris University and Army West Point are the other two teams projected to earn first-round home ice, with 46 and 38 points for seventh and eighth place.
Rounding out the poll are Mercyhurst University in ninth with 25 points, The College of the Holy Cross with 21 points, and Canisius College with 17 points.
The Yellow Jackets open the AHC schedule at Sacred Heart on October 18. Season tickets for all 16 home games are on sale now; to purchase season tickets, or for more information,
