HOW IT HAPPENED:
Game 1:
  • The Yellow Jackets got on the board in the bottom of the first. Sophomore Bonnie Kennedy led things off with a single to the pitcher. Senior Sarah Baganz then moved her over on a bunt. Freshman Victoria Andrade followed that up with a single through the left side that allowed Kennedy to score.
  • In the top of the third, the Pioneers had runners on second and third when Hanna Finkelstein singled to center, and a run scored. The Pioneers kept stringing things together as they added two runs on one hit in the fourth to take a 3-1 lead.
  • In the bottom half of the inning, senior Kaley Kempf hit a one-out single to right field. After the second out, junior Ariana DiCioccio doubled to right center and put Kempf at third. Senior Lydia DePina singled down the left field line to make it a one-run game.
  • LIU Post took advantage of two AIC errors in the top of the sixth to take a 6-2 lead, which ended up being the final.

Game 2:
  • LIU Post found its way onto the board in the top of the second. A pair of errors, as well as four hits, allowed the Pioneers to put six runs up early in the game. From there forward, the Yellow Jackets settled down.
  • The Yellow Jackets started to chip back in the bottom half of the inning. Junior Olivia Gonzalez started things with a single to center. After a sacrifice bunt by sophomore Jalia Santos and another AIC out, DePina singled to the shortstop but advanced to second on a Pioneer error that allowed Gonzalez to score.
  • After a run by LIU Post in the top of the fourth, sophomore Kacie Allison took one to the deepest part of the park as she touched them all to make it 7-2.
  • LIU Post added two more runs in the top of the fifth as the Pioneers went on to take the game 9-2.
