Women's lacrosse topped by No. 18 Merrimack

NORTH ANDOVER, Massachusetts Senior midfielder Mikayla Demanche registered a trio of goals, but the American International College women's lacrosse team fell 18-4 to No. 18 Merrimack in Northeast-10 Conference play.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • The Warriors jumped out to an early 3-0 lead, with three different scorers hitting the net in the first 1:44.
  • Demanche scored her first of the game at 3:10, but the Warriors answered just 0:33 later.
  • Demanche netted another to make the score 4-2 at 8:06, and scoring stagnated from there, with neither team tallying for over 11 minutes before the Warriors finally scored again.
  • The hosts notched two quick man-down goals to extend their lead to 7-2 at 21:33; the scored remained that way through the break.
  • In the second half, Merrimack began expanding its edge, scoring six straight goals over a 8:01 span from 4:34 to 12:35. Though Demanche broke the streak with her third at 13:31, it simply was not enough, as Merrimack notched five of the remaining six goals, with only a strike from senior defender Lauren Witherspoon at 26:52 coming for AIC in the 18-4 final.
