SPRINGFIELD, Massachusetts - The American International College baseball team completed a Northeast-10 Conference Southwest Division sweep against the University of New Haven, winning 12-7 on Sunday, April 14.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The Yellow Jackets were on fire in the first inning. Sophomore Anthony Clark knocked in the first run of the game with a slow dribbler to the pitcher. Redshirt-junior Reed Phillips and senior Brendan Carter drove in a pair of runs each with a couple singles. Senior Josh Aviles brought in the sixth run on the seventh hit of the inning with a single up the middle.
- New Haven was able to score a run in the first and third inning to cut into the Yellow Jackets lead.
- In the bottom of the fourth, AIC added on two more runs after an RBI single from junior Matt Krause and a sacrifice fly from senior Matthew Elliott.
- The Chargers scored another run in the top of the sixth inning, but Phillips responded with a towering grand slam to give the Yellow Jackets a nine-run lead.
- New Haven was able to score four more runs to make it a five-run game, but the outcome was never in doubt as the Yellow Jackets hung on to win 12-7.
BUZZWORTHY:
- The sweep over New Haven was AIC's first three-game series sweep since they beat Adelphi three times on April 25 and April 26, 2015.
- Phillips posted a career-high six RBI.
PLAYER'S CORNER:
- "It's nice to see the guys and myself start picking it up and playing some good conference games," Phillips said, adding, "It's awesome, because that puts us at the top of the division."
COACH'S CORNER:
- "It's been a great weekend. Obviously, the ultimate goal is to get a sweep and we were able to accomplish that. We really just played quality baseball this weekend," head coach Nick Callini said.

- The Yellow Jackets look to ride their momentum into Tuesday, April 16 as they take on the College of Saint Rose at home.
