HOW IT HAPPENED:
Game 1:
- The Owls took advantage of a couple of missed pitching locations and an error as they had runners on second and third with one out in the first. Jaqueline Dumont doubled to left and made it a 2-0 game. Junior Olivia Gonzalez settled down in the circle and limited the Owls to four hits in the next five innings.
- Senior Kaley Kempf had the first AIC hit of the game in the second inning when she doubled to center.
- In the bottom of the fifth, sophomore Kacie Allison led things off with a single to short. After Kempf was hit by a pitch, sophomore Olivia Ortega pinch ran for Allison. Mackenzie Aleva then moved them over to second and third on an unassisted groundout to first. Despite having two runners in scoring position, the Yellow Jackets were unable to get on the scoreboard.
- After scoring an insurance run in the top of the seventh, the Owls took care of business in the bottom half of the inning to take the game, 3-0.
Game 2:
- Sophomore Bonnie Kennedy started things off for the Yellow Jackets in their half of the first inning. After a ground out moved Kennedy to second, she stole third. Freshman Victoria Andrade doubled to right and pushed Kennedy across. Sophomore Makaylah Mutz singled through the left side to give AIC runners on the corners. Allison then singled down the left field line to score Andrade.
- In the bottom of the third, with senior Lydia DePina on third and Kennedy on first, Kennedy took off on a pitch and drew a throw down to second. On the throw, DePina broke towards home and beat the throw to the catcher to make it a 3-0 game.
- As the game continued, sophomore Ariana DiCioccio kept the Owls at bay as she only allowed five hits in the game.
- In the bottom of the fifth, junior Ashley Barile was pinch running for Andrade and was on second while Mutz was on first. Allison dug into the box and singled to right to make it 4-0 AIC.
- One inning later, Andrade was on first while DePina was on third when Mutz crushed a home run to left field to make it 7-0.
