HOW IT HAPPENED:
Game 1:
- The Cougars put some pressure on the Yellow Jackets in the first inning as they loaded the bases with one out. Freshman shortstop Mackenzie Aleva fielded a ground ball and threw home for the force out. On the next play, freshman third baseman Victoria Andrade fielded a pitch hit her way and stepped on third to end the inning with nothing hurt.
- Caldwell was on the board first as in the top of the fourth inning they scored eight runs on eight hits. They then jumped out to a 10-0 lead in the top half of the fifth to take the game by that score.
Game 2:
- In the bottom of the first inning, the Bulldogs jumped out to a 3-0 lead thanks in part to back-to-back doubles which allowed three runs to score.
- The Yellow Jackets scored their first runs of the season in the top of the third. Aleva started things off with a single up the middle on a 1-0 pitch. After two outs, sophomore outfielder Jaila Santos walked to give the Yellow Jackets runners on first and second. Senior second basemen Sarah Baganz then reached on an error to load the bases. Andrade then pushed Aleva and Santos in with a single to right that made it a 3-2 game.
- Minnesota Duluth added three runs in the bottom of the fifth to take the game 6-2.
