HOW IT HAPPENED:
Game 1:
- The Golden Eagles struck first in the top of the opening frame as they pushed one run across on two hits.
- In the bottom of the second, the Yellow Jackets had back-to-back walks to put runners on first and second but were unable to push any runs across.
- In the bottom of the third, senior outfielder Lydia DePina got things started with a single to the pitcher. She then stole second during the next at-bat. After she advanced to third on a passed ball, freshman Victoria Adrade was hit by the pitch to give the Yellow Jackets runners on the corners. Sophomore Bonnie Kennedy came in to run for Adrade and swiped second. Sophomore Makaylah Mutz followed up with a single through the left side that allowed DePina to score and Kennedy to move to third. Sophomore Jalia Santos came in to run for Mutz and advanced on a wild pitch that allowed Kennedy to score. With two outs, Santos touched the pentagon to make it a 3-1 AIC lead.
- The Golden Eagles scored a run in the top of the fifth and the sixth to tie the game at three. In the top of the seventh, the Golden Eagles pushed one across to take the game 4-3.
Game 2:
- After giving a run up in the top of the first, the Yellow Jackets strung hits together to take the lead. It started with Kennedy singling to center field. After taking second on a fielder's choice, Mutz singled to second, and Kennedy came around to score. Mutz then scored on a fielding error by the Tigers right fielder off a ball put in play by sophomore Kacie Allison who ended up at third. Senior Sarah Baganz singled to right field and pushed Allison across to take the 3-1 lead.
- Salem scored a run in the second and third to tie the game up at three. They then took a 7-3 lead in the fourth before taking the game 9-5.
