The Atlantic Hockey Conference announced its 2018-19 All-Conference selections on Thursday, March 14. For the first time, AIC earned two of the six First-Team selections, as junior forward
Blake Christensen and sophomore defenseman
Brennan Kapcheck took home top honors from the league.
"With great team success comes individual accolades. Blake and Brennan are two of the most dynamic players in our league. They have been monumental to our team success this season, and it's an incredible accomplishment to be named to the league's First Team," said head coach
Eric Lang.
Christensen has had a record-setting season for AIC as a junior, breaking the program's Division I-era scoring record with 42 points on 13 goals and 29 assists in 34 games. No player outpaced him in the 28-game Atlantic Hockey regular season schedule, where he notched 12 goals and 25 assists for 37 of those points.
Kapcheck, who was last season's Rookie of the Year, impressed, notching all four of his goals and 19 of his assists in his 26 conference games played, fourth most among defenders in the AHC. He also posted a stellar +13 rating in those games, third-best among the league's blueliners.
Christensen and Kapcheck join three others who have earned First-Team All-Conference honors for AIC; defenseman
Aaron Arnett picked up the team's lone First-Team selection while it was a member of the MAAC in 2000-01, while Guillaume Caron earned a nod as a forward in the first season of AHC play, 2003-04, and goalkeeper Frank Novello picked up a selection in 2004-05.
