Men's lacrosse opens spring home slate against Post

The American International College men's lacrosse team opens the home portion of its 2019 schedule with a nonconference matchup against Post University on Tuesday, February 19 at 3 p.m.

LAST TIME OUT:
  • AIC battled hard at No. 8 LIU Post on February 16, but ultimately fell 28-8.
  • Senior midfielder Quinn Caesar scored one goal in each of the four quarters for a career-best offensive day.
  • Junior attacker Matt Quinlan also had a career-best day, collecting four assists.
  • Freshmen attackers Jason Vickery and Eric Mackowski each scored the first two goals of their collegiate careers.

LAST TIME THEY MET:
  • AIC topped Post 13-5 on February 21, 2018 in Waterbury, Connecticut.
  • Caesar and Jack McIntyre '18 each scored a goal and added two assists, while Quinlan notched a goal and an assist in the win.

SCOUTING THE EAGLES:
  • Post graduated its leading scorer, Frank Nichols Jr., at the end of the 2018 campaign, as well as two of its other four double-digit goal scorers.
  • Sean Olsen is the top returner, having scored 11 goals and a team-high nine assists in 13 games last year. The Eagles also have Corey Auten back after a 12-goal, five assist 2018 season.
  • The Eagles do bring back their defense mostly intact; Chris Stahl and Stefan Ceconi, who led the team with 15 and 13 caused turnovers respectively, are back.
  • In net, Manuele D'Alessio returns for his junior campaign, having started 10 of the team's 14 games in 2018. He stopped shots at a .536 percent rate in his appearances.

HOME SWEET HOME:
  • AIC's remaining three nonconference regular-season games are at Abdow Field; after Post, the Yellow Jackets host Saint Thomas Aquinas College on Saturday, February 23 and then Dominican on Tuesday, February 26.
