DOBBS FERRY, New York The American International College men's lacrosse team opened the 2019 campaign with a tough 22-4 defeat by No. 15 Mercy in a nonconference matchup on Wednesday, February 13.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The Mavericks opened the scoring with a six-goal run before AIC struck, with freshman attacker Rusty Stone striking for his first collegiate goal at 11:58. However, the Mavericks finished the frame up 7-1.
- The hosts added to their lead early in the second, taking a 10-1 edge before Stone netted his second of the game at 3:22 for AIC's first extra-man goal of the season. The teams then traded goals, with freshman attacker Avery Foye's first collegiate tally coming at 5:31, but the Mavericks closed the half up 15-3.
- Mercy's offense continued in the second half as the Mavericks extended the lead to 20-3 before Foye scored at 12:32 to end the offense for the third at 20-4 for the Mavericks.
- Mercy struck twice in the final period of play to account for the 22-4 final.
