HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The first Yellow Jacket basket of the game came off the hands of redshirt-sophomore forward Bane Terzic off the pass from senior forward Zekiah Owens in transition to give AIC the 2-1 lead. Knotted at six four minutes into the game, Terzic nailed a jumper in the paint, followed by a three just over a minute later to give his team the five-point lead. Fellow Serbian junior forward Matija Radovic followed with a layup on the break. The Redhawks fought back and took a 10 point lead with 7:15 remaining in the first frame. Roberts Wesleyan had an eight-point lead with 53 seconds left in the first, but senior Logan Santiago drew a foul as he pushed the ball up the court and nailed a pair of free throws. After 20 minutes of play, the Yellow Jackets trailed 40-34.
- Out of the locker room, senior guard Goree Venable-Gonzalez knocked down a pair of free throws to make it a four-point game. The Redhawks answered with a 6-0 run to put themselves ahead by double digits. AIC kept chipping away as they eventually pulled even with the Redhawks at 52 at the 13:08 mark. Junior point guard Jordan Vidal gave the Yellow Jackets their first lead since the 12:34 mark of the first half with a three off the pass from Venable-Gonzalez. From the 13:39 mark until 5:18 was on the clock, the Yellow Jackets' defense held the Redhawks to five points while scoring 19 on the other end of the court. With just under four minutes remaining the game Owens started a little 4-0 run of his own. The end of his run was capped off by an athletic put-back thunderous dunk that silenced the crowd. As the Redhawks tried to extend the game, the Yellow Jackets kept them multiple possessions back by hitting their free throws as AIC took the game 83-75.
