HOW IT HAPPENED:

Graduate student defender Adrian Romero registered his fourth assist of the season on the play.
- Romero doubled the Yellow Jackets lead in the 37th minute, as he received the ball on the left side of the field, beyond the 18-yard box, from teammate freshman midfielder Frans Dao and hit a one-time shot that curled into the top right corner of the goal.
- AIC nearly stretched its lead to three goals, as Dao and senior midfielder Jake Durham each hit shots inside the six-yard box, but the Owls' goalie Ian Shannon made three consecutive saves. The Yellow Jackets finished with eight shots on goal compared to Southern Connecticut State's three to end the first half.
- Twelve minutes into the second half, junior forward Josip Validzic found some open space inside the 18-yard box and rifled a shot towards goal but missed high.
- In the 73rd minute, Durham received a short pass off a corner kick and sent the ball into the middle. Graduate student midfielder Chaney Nash-Gibney got his head on it and redirected the ball towards goal, but Aren Seeger punched the ball up and out of danger to keep AIC's lead at two.
- With under ten minutes remaining in regulation, Durham intercepted a pass inside the Owls' 18-yard box and struck a low shot that was deflected out of bounds by Seeger.
- The Yellow Jackets' defense limited Southern Connecticut State to just three shots on goal, compared to AIC's 13, in its fourth clean sheet of the season and second in a row.
