HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Franklin Pierce threatened early, with Camilla Sahirul driving a shot that was punched aside with a diving effort by sophomore goalkeeper Tamra Zippin; a second opportunity from Veronica Marques was blocked along the goal line by rookie defender Erin Davies.
  • AIC's first significant opportunity paid off; a corner drawn by redshirt sophomore Josefine Stendahl was crossed in by freshman Nicole Gamberoni, and deflected in by fellow freshman Trystin Burger at 31:44.
  • The Yellow Jackets had a chance to take a 2-0 lead as redshirt sophomore Makayla Bigard drew a penalty kick, but Davies had her bid tipped into the crossbar by Casey Kane to keep the Ravens deficit at one.
  • The Ravens had a quality chance on a free kick by Gabi Pereira that Zippin caught through traffic late in the half to keep the score 1-0 at the break.
  • Early in the second half, the Yellow Jackets nearly doubled the lead on a play across the box, but Stendahl's bid hit the crossbar and then Gamberoni fired the rebound high.
  • Marques was awarded a free kick just outside of the box with 10 minutes remaining, but her shot was directly at Zippin, who held onto the ball.
  • From there, AIC held off the Ravens to earn the 1-0 win.
