SPRINGFIELD, Massachusetts - The American International College men's basketball team mounted a 16-point comeback in the second half to defeat Saint Michael's College 73-65 on Saturday, January 12 at Butova Gym.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
The Purple Knights opened up the game by knocking down a pair of threes, taking a 6-0 lead over AIC. Sophomore guard Adonis Williams answered with a three of his own, but St. Michael's responded with their third three-pointer in the first 2:10 of the game. Less than a minute later sophomore guard Jordon Vidal drilled another three, the fifth total three inside the first four minutes of regulation, making the score 9-6.
With 10:19 remaining in the first half and the Yellow Jackets leading 22-20, St. Michael's went on an 18-1 run, giving the Purple Knights a 38-23 lead with 2:36 left in the half. The Yellow Jackets scored the only points thereafter and trailed 38-25 at the break
The Purple Knights lead grew to as many as 16 points with 17:25 remaining in regulation, before AIC chipped away and tied the game at 52 with 8:18 left in the final half. St. Michael's would quickly regain the lead, but AIC went on a 9-0 run, capped off by a fast break layup from junior guard Zakiah Owens with 5:39 remaining that put the Yellow Jackets ahead 61-54. The Yellow Jacket run would lift AIC to a 73-65 victory over St. Michael's.
