HOW IT HAPPENED:
Game 1:
  • The Golden Knights got the scoring started in the top of the first. With a runner on first and second, the Saint Rose five-hitter sent a ball to left field that allowed a run to score.
  • AIC started heating up in the bottom of the fourth, when graduate student shortstop Yami Lopez-Perez sent one deep over the left field fence to tie the game.
  • In the bottom of the fifth, the Yellow Jackets trailed 2-1 when they put pressure on the Golden Knights. With the bases loaded, Lopez-Perez singled to right field and drove in junior second baseman Sarah Baganz and sophomore center fielder Lydia DePina. Senior catcher Jamie Mainez then singled down the left field line to push freshman left fielder Bonnie Kennedy across the plate.
  • Senior first baseman Alexa DiLeo was not to be left out, as she singled to center to scored Lopez-Perez. The fifth AIC run of the inning came when Mainez scored on a wild pitch that made it a 6-2 game.
  • The Golden Knights added one more run in the top of the seventh, but the Yellow Jackets took the game 6-3.
Game 2:
  • Saint Rose started the game off hot. In its first inning, it scored three runs on three hits to jump out to the early lead.
  • The Golden Knight lead did not last very long, as the Yellow Jackets answered quickly. With a runner on second, sophomore first baseman Jess Lingenberg doubled to center field and allowed junior right fielder Ashley Hughes to score. Junior third baseman Kayla Riley singled through the right side to score Lingenberg. AIC scored one more run when Riley scored on a throw down to second to try and get freshman catcher Makaylah Mutz, who was stealing on the play.
  • The bats stayed warm in the bottom of the second inning. Lingenberg dug into the batter's box with the bases loaded and emptied the bases with a single to left.
  • In the bottom of the third, DePina singled through the right side and freshman pitcher Kacie Allison and Baganz scored to make it 8-3. Two batters later, Hughes singled to center and drove in DePina.
  • The streak continued as the Yellow Jackets continued to hit and drive in runs in the bottom of the fourth. With runners on first and second, Allison singled down the left field line that scored Mutz. DePina then singled to center and push Baganz across the plate. Lopez-Perez followed up with a double to left that allowed Allison and DePina to score.
  • The Golden Knights started to chip away in the top of the fifth, where they scored four runs on five hits to extend the game. After holding the Yellow Jackets scoreless in the bottom of the fifth, Saint Rose then scored one run on three hits.
  • AIC answered with two more runs in the bottom of the sixth to make it a 15-8 game, which would be the final score.
