HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Similar to Saturday afternoon's doubleheader, the Chargers got on the board first by producing two runs on three hits in the top of the first inning. In the top of the third inning, Erin Stever's single to left field drove in two runs and gave New Haven a 5-0 lead. The Chargers would then add two more runs in the next inning.
  • In the bottom of the fourth, junior third baseman Kayla Riley's RBI single got the Yellow Jackets on the board. Two batters later, junior second baseman Sarah Baganz reached on a fielder's choice and allowed Riley to score and bring AIC within five runs of the lead.
  • Pushing three runs across in the top of the fifth, the Chargers would head into the bottom of the fifth with a chance to end the game early. In the bottom half of the inning, sophomore pinch hitter Jess Lingenberg would lead off with a single. Two consecutive groundouts would then advance the runners to second and third, but New Haven pitcher Megan Butts would get a fly out to end the contest and give her team the 10-2 victory.
