Women's rugby finishes 4th at Bowdoin 7s

BRUNSWICK, Maine- The American International College women's rugby team hit the road to participate in the Bowdoin 7s Invite.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
Game 1 vs. Dartmouth
  • Dartmouth was on the board early in the first half. The scored just 23 seconds into the game. Dartmouth scored the first five tries before graduate student Kristen Kvalvik scored the only try of the game in extra time in the second half.
Game 2 vs. BU:
  • Coming off the loss to Dartmouth, freshman Siale Alatini scored 30 seconds in to give AIC the 7-0 after she made the conversion. BU added a try at the 4:24 mark to make it a two-point game before Alatini scored and converted the kick to make it 14-5 at the break.
  • It was all Yellow Jackets in the second half as senior Shamira Robles scored twice and sophomore Daria Gagnon scored one to take the game 31-5.
Game 3 vs. Norwich:
  • Robles scored 29 seconds into the game and then again at the 4:33 mark to give AIC the 12-0 lead. Norwich scored with nine seconds left in the half before Robles scored again to give AIC the 17-5 lead at the break.
  • Norwich scored almost two minutes into the second half to make it a 17-12 game with about five minutes left in the game. Alatini scored once more to extend the lead that took the pressure off the defense as the Yellow Jackets took the game 22-12.
Game 4 vs. Army
  • The semifinal game against Army was controlled by Army from the start as they took the game 40-0.
Game 5 vs. Dartmouth:
  • Dartmouth was on the board with the first two tries of the game. Right before the half, Robles scored to make it 12-5 at the break
  • Senior Bridge Kahele found the try zone 46 seconds into the second half to tie the game up at 12. Dartmouth then pulled away to take the 26-12
UP NEXT
  • The Yellow Jackets will round out their regular season schedule when they travel to Army on April 28 for the Army 7s.
