Softball drops doubleheader at Pace

PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y.- The American International College softball team hit the road for a three game road trip to take on the Setters of Pace University on Saturday, April 14. The Yellow Jackets dropped both games by scores of 1-0 and 8-2.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
Game 1:
  • The two teams came out to what would end up being a pitcher's duel. The bottom of the sixth inning separated the two teams. With a runner on third and two outs, the Setters scored on a wild pitch to take the game 1-0.

Game 2:
  • Junior Ashley Hughes had a one out single to jump start AIC in the first inning. After a walk to senior Jamie Mainez, senior Alexa DiLeo singled up the middle and Hughes came around to score.
  • The Setters came back and answer with four runs on five hits to take the 4-1 lead.
  • In the bottom of the second, Pace scored two on two hits to extend the lead.
  • AIC answered in the top of the third inning with a home run to left field by Mainez.
  • The Setters went on the beat the Yellow Jackets in five innings, 10-2.

UP NEXT:
  • AIC willround out the season series against Pace with a single game on Sunday, April 15 with the first pitch at noon.
