HOW IT HAPPENED:
- In what would be a theme of the night, Assumption opened the scoring while up a player at 1:10; they would take a 3-0 lead before the four-minute mark. AIC countered with two goals in 56 seconds, as junior midfielder Mikayla Demanche set up junior attacker Mary Bates for a tally at 7:04 and then senior defender Jessica Fontana found freshman attacker Devin Coulter open in front of the net for a score at the eight-minute mark.
- The teams traded goals, with Assumption scoring 41 seconds later, but Fontana responding just 50 seconds after that to make it 4-3; after a save by Kyra Goucher, the Hounds went down the field and scored at the 10:43 mark to take a 5-3 lead. They would score six more over the following eight minutes to build to an 11-3 lead.
- The Hounds found themselves up two players in the final minute and scored on both ends of the two-man advantage, but in between, redshirt senior attacker Deanna Fortin set up Coulter's second of the game, a shorthanded tally, to put the deficit at 13-4 at the break.
- Out of the halftime, AIC scored first, as junior attacker Lauren Witherspoon snapped a shot home at 1:22, but the Greyhounds won the next draw and scored just five seconds later. AIC then went down a player again, but a brilliant run through the zone by Fontana ended with her in front of the net to pot the team's second shorthanded goal of the game at 4:13.
- The teams essentially alternated scoring from there all the way to the 20-11 final; Fontana set up senior attacker Brittany Hutchison for a goal, redshirt senior attacker Erica McLean scored AIC's lone man-up marker of the night, Demanche tallied a pair, and Coulter completed a hat trick from freshman attacker Reagan Nichols.
ROY TIES TURNOVERS MARK:
- Redshirt sophomore Allison Roy caused two second-half turnovers, giving her 29 on the year; she is tied with Cheyenne Carden for the most in a single season in program history.
